Climate Changes Everything. For the global stage at COP26 🌍, Arup needed a microsite to demonstrate their leadership in sustainable design ♻️. We concepted an immersive 3D city 🏙️✨ experience, guiding users through case studies that vividly showcased Arup’s engineering innovations 💡 for environmental sustainability.
Arup is a globally renowned firm of designers, engineers, architects, and technical specialists known for creating iconic structures worldwide. As key sponsors of COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference held in Glasgow that year, they needed a digital platform to reinforce their commitment to sustainability—an ethos core to their mission but previously underrepresented online.
Our team, collaborating across time zones between the United States and the UK, developed creative territories and platforms, then concepted and designed an interactive “sustainability hub” that positioned Arup as a leader in climate-conscious design through engaging storytelling and a 3D city inspired by Utrecht’s pedestrian-focused urban planning. As one of the primary creative & design leads, I partnered closely with our head copywriter and collaborated with development and the 3D artist, providing creative direction and UX oversight. With the other design lead, I crafted the interface and user journey to balance education and engagement, reinforcing Arup’s role as an active agent of environmental change.

Climate Changes Everything
It’s changing the world we live in. And it’s changing our approach to every project, moving forward.
We must act now to transform the systems that underpin our daily lives and economies—reconfiguring how we power our world, move through it, produce materials and build with them.
We must act now to forge resilience in the built environment to the impacts of flooding, drought, wildfires and heatwaves.
We must act now to design net zero solutions and foment system-wide change to create a safer, cleaner future for all.
Most of the tools and technologies we need to fight climate change are understood and available. At Arup, we’re acting now to build a more resilient and sustainable future.
